Alex Rogeo and her Liquid Glow 2007 Dodge Magnum will make their NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series debut May 23rd in the Super Street class at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana California. Alex has raced Dick Krieger’s super comp altered in the series, but this will be the first time her famous Magnum competes in the series.
“This should be fun and really tough at the same time.” Ms. Rogeo said. “My car can run in the 10.2 second range in the quarter mile, but the Super Street class has an index of 10.90 so we had to slow the car down a lot. But my marketing partners have wanted me to run the Magnum in NHRA competition, so we may as well start in our own backyard at Fontana.”
Alex and her crew took her car to Mountain View Performance in Rancho Cucamonga, California to have some modifications made to get ready for the race. Among other things, Mountain View installed an adjustable ballast weight system that is designed to work in tandem with engine tuning changes.
“Our Magnuson supercharged Arrington Performance engine can make anywhere from 625 to 800 horsepower, depending on pulleys and tune,” said Alex’s crew chief, Richard Kratz. “Of course, we prefer unleashing the beast and running as fast as we can, but that’s not the name of the game in Super Street.”
“We’ve got years of data and experience running our car in bracket racing,” continued Alex. “But we’ve got all of five passes now in Super Street tune. But we have a great car and a great crew, so we’ll see how we do come Saturday afternoon and round one. This is an NHRA divisional race, which means some tough competition is going to show up, and everyone is going to bring their best game. But we love the competition and the challenge of doing something new, so we’re really excited to do this.”
“I always have so many people to thank,” said Alex. “Partners like shopHEMI.com, MAHLE Aftermarket, MAHLE Motorsports, FTI Convertors, Driveshaft Shop, Diablosport, Mickey Thompson Tires, Champion Spark Plugs, LAT Oil, Unitrax Drivetrain, Hedman Hedders, and Bell Racing. I’m always motivated to do my best for them and my team.”
