Alex Rogeo and her team are preparing her Arrington Performance MAHLE Original race car for the second half of the NMCA West series. Alex started the year very strong, winning the first race of the year at Mopars at the Strip (or Musclecars at the Strip as it is now known) and then a very strong outing in the opening 2016 NMCA West race. The Hedman Headers Nostalgic Street Car Class lit up the Las Vegas Motor Speedway strip on September 5th – 7th,2014. The competition was stiff and the already blistering blacktop served as excellent proving grounds for the amazing rides of the Hedman class.
After a fierce round of qualifying, the drivers prepped their cars and buckled up for eliminations. Class veterans such as Steve Cox and Mike Nordahl put on an excellent show through the elimination rounds, but it was Jan Vanderpool and his Mustang that would leave Las Vegas victorious with the Wally. The final event of the NMCA West season takes place at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, CA October 24-26, 2014, and four racers are still in the hunt for Hedman Hedders’ coveted Nostalgia Street Car Class Championship Trophy and Ring.
The second race of the 2014 NMCA West season was a heck of a show, drawing large crowds to a special and rare outing at the Auto Club Raceway in Pomona this past weekend. The first race of the 2014 NMCA West season brought drag racing back to the Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, CA after a two year hiatus while the track completed construction on the new sound wall. The Hedman Hedders Nostalgia Street Car class saw a full field of 32 competitors make the finals on Sunday, March 30th, 2014 after an intense round of qualifying that ended with Dan Ficher taking the top qualifying spot. The second race of the National Muscle Car Association’s NMCA West series drew hundreds of racers and muscle car fans to the historic Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, CA. Always the favorite venue of the season, the weekend was packed with full-throttle racing action and more than a few upsets. The Hedman Hedders Nostalgia Street Car class was once again one of the largest classes of the event, with 41 cars making the grid for the start of elimination racing on Sunday morning. Though the field was packed with seasoned veterans like Mike Nordahl (who won 3 Wallys in a single event last year), Ron De Hoop, Steve Cox, and Frank Coscarelli, stiff competition and some very determined racers would see many of these icons fall. The National Muscle Car Association’s NMCA West series has returned for 2013 providing racers with a fast-paced four race season at some of the most famous drag strips on the west coast. The season officially kicked off on April 5th with the NMCA West Street Car Nationals at Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, CA. As the popularity of this series continues to grow, the competition gets tougher and tougher, especially in the Hedman Hedders Nostalgia Street Car index racing class. The National Muscle Car Association’s NMCA West series returned for its third race of the season and was held at the SpeedWorld Drag Strip in Phoenix, Arizona September 21-23 2012. After Saturday’s qualifying session, Mike Nordahl was the top qualifier in the Hedman Hedders Nostalgia Street Car class, by far the largest class of the weekend.
