The National Muscle Car Association’s NMCA West series held its 2nd Annual West Coast Shootout at the Historic Auto Club Raceway in Pomona on Aug. 17-19, 2012. With air temperatures over 100-degrees and track temperatures pushing 140+ degrees, the 64 top competitors in the Hedman Hedders Nostalgia Street Car Class moved on from Saturday’s two qualifying rounds to a grueling seven-round elimination on Sunday. The NMCA West Drag Racing Series has quickly become the west coast’s hottest racing series, and their recent sold out event at the historic Pomona Dragstrip is proof of its instant popularity among west coast drag racers. Hedman Hedders, a member of the Hedman Performance Group based in Whittier, California, has taken on the duties of sponsoring the Nostalgia Street Car Class. This popular class is for 1972 and earlier American Muscle cars, which is the “sweet spot” in the Hedman Hedders line of performance headers.
As an added bonus for 2012 Hedman Hedders Nostalgia Street Car Class racers, Hedman Husler Hedders (Hedman’s full-bore race header division) has made the battle for the top spot even more fruitful. In addition to the NSC Class 2012 CHAMPIONSHIP RING and prizes, the Champion will also be awarded a set of Hedman Husler Race Headers. “With the high number of Nostalgia Street Car class participants at this season’s events, the competition for overall class champion will be fierce.” say Chris Vandergriff, Race Director and GM for Hedman Husler Hedders. “We know the racer who ends up at the top of the standing, after the last event later this year, will have beaten the best racers on the west coast, and this is our way of letting them know their hard work has not gone unnoticed.”
To be eligible, all racers need to do is run in the Nostalgia Street Car Class, and run the Hedman Class decal. If you end up #1 at season’s end, we’ll award you a set of world famous, All-American made Hedman Husler Hedders! Good luck racers…and safe driving!
