The NMCA West’s third race of the season brought thunderous racing action to Fontana’s Auto Club Dragway this past weekend. The Hedman Headers Nostalgic Street Car Class saw an exciting group of 17 drivers make the cut for Sunday’s eliminations. After battling it out for qualifying spots, Matt Loutsenhizer and his Ford would take the number one seed heading into round one.
The second race of the 2014 NMCA West season was a heck of a show, drawing large crowds to a special and rare outing at the Auto Club Raceway in Pomona this past weekend. Once a year the Southern California classic, muscle car, and hot rod communities descend upon the Orange County Fairgrounds to attend the Cruisin’ for a Cure Charity Car Show. Benefitting the City of Hope Foundation and raising money to fund Prostate Cancer research, this car show is the largest charity classic/custom auto show in the world and had over 3,400 cars in attendance for 2012. But this car show is more than just a fundraiser; it is a place to celebrate the automotive lifestyle. To help embrace this lifestyle, the show has more than just the normal rows of parked cars. Weaving throughout the show grounds is a half-mile long “Cruisin’” route that allows owners to fire up their rides and take part in one of the staples of American car culture – cruising.
